All About Us

Second Cast Productions, formed in 2018 by a group of Bay Area ballet dancers, aims to cultivate community and creativity using our collection of drag photography that blends radical transformation with fine art. We started this as a passion project - each contributing our different talents to create our past drag calendars which raise money for unhoused youth. After a two year hiatus, we are back and better than ever with our 2023 Calendar - Drag Bazaar!

Each model in our calendar is a ballet dancer working in the Bay Area and for most of them, it was their first time in drag. The models come from a wide range of countries, backgrounds, and sexual orientations. It has been an incredible experience developing this project not only from an artistic standpoint, but in the way it has strengthened our understanding of each other and the different ways we walk through life. We are amazed that in the pursuit of giving support to another community, we were able to enrich our own.

After a few years away, we are so excited to share with you our 2023 Drag Calendar. We are thrilled to show off 12 whimsical portraits of dancers from the Bay Area transformed into a distinct set of colorful characters. It’s truly a unique piece of art that celebrates creativity, uniqueness, and joy. And just like last year, all profits from the calendar will directly benefit a local organization we love. The sale of the 2023 Calendar will support Larkin Street Youth Services, San Francisco’s largest nonprofit provider for young people experiencing homelessness.

Here at Second Cast, we truly believe that drag is for everyone, and we are so excited to be able to bring more beauty, art, and magic to our community.

All profits from the sale of the 2023 calendar support Larkin Street Youth Services. Founded in 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services is leading the charge to end youth homelessness in San Francisco. In the past 35 years, they have helped more than 75,000 young people exit homelessness by providing a continuum of healthcare, housing, employment, and education services. As San Francisco’s largest nonprofit provider for young people experiencing homelessness, they are supported by both public and private funding. They're also part of the movement to end youth homelessness on a national scale through policy partnerships with national organizations and fellow nonprofits. Three out of four young people experiencing who exit Larkin Street's programs move onto stable housing.
